Description

Disperse Red 60, The chemical name is 1-amino-4-hydroxyanthraquinone, which is a classic monoazo dispersed dye with a chemical formula of C14H10N2O2 and a CA NO of 12223-37-9. Disperse red 60, from a chemical perspective, is not based upon the anthraquinone nucleus but on a typical structure of azo. The molecule of Disperse Red 60 contains an azo-group connecting two aromatic rings as well as key chromophores, amino and hydroxyl. Its azo structure is what gives it its bright red color and allows it to absorb certain wavelengths of visible spectrum. The synthesis of azo dyes is shorter than that of anthraquinone and is generally more cost-effective. Physically, Disperse red 60 appears as a uniform powder or particle that is reddish-brown to red. It is slightly soluble and relies primarily on dispersants for a stable suspension to ensure uniform contact and dyeing during the dyeing procedure. Diazotization, and coupling are the two main steps in the production of Disperse Red 60. Diazotization of aromatic amine derivatives with amino groups is the first step in producing diazonium. Under specific conditions, the amine derivatives are then coupled with naphthol as a coupling component to produce azo compounds. Commercial dyes can be obtained after a series post-treatment procedures such as grinding, filtration, standardization etc. The control of reaction conditions and pH values, as well as the purity of raw materials, during the production process, directly impacts the color purity, strength and dispersion of the final product. Disperse red 60 is known as a high-performance dye because of its vibrant blue-red color. As an azo color, its lightfastness is typically at a moderately high level and can be used at standard depths. Sublimation fastness should be taken into consideration when using certain high-temperature processing. Disperse red 60 is compatible with other dyes in the same series and can be used to create deep colors like purple, black, and red.

The application of DISPERSE RED 60

  1. The core red component of polyester fiber dyeing This is the most basic and extensive application of Disperse Red 60. Its molecular structure is highly compatible with hydrophobic polyester fibers. Medium deep red dyeing: Disperse Red 60 provides a bright and full-bodied blue red color, widely used in the production of red polyester fabrics such as women’s clothing, sportswear, home decor fabrics, and flags.
One of the “three primary colors” of color matching: In the dyeing system of dispersed dyes, Disperse Red 60 is often referred to as the “high-temperature primary color” or “medium light primary color” along with Disperse Yellow and Disperse Blue. Through precise proportioning, it can derive an extremely wide range of chromatograms: Paired with yellow: You can get various bright red colors from orange. Pairing with Blue: It is the key to blending various shades of purple, sauce purple, and navy blue. Combining with yellow and blue: It is the core component for blending various deep shades of gray, coffee, and even black. Especially when modulating high-quality black, the addition of Disperse Red 60 can eliminate the greenish tint caused by a single black dye, making the black fuller, blacker, and improving color fastness.
  1. The key red dye for textile printing Disperse Red 60 is widely used in the printing process of polyester fabrics due to its excellent sublimation performance and vividness.
Direct printing: It is made into printing ink and printed on fabric using a flat or circular screen printing machine. After high-temperature steam curing, a clear red pattern can be obtained. Heat transfer printing: This is a very important application scenario for it. Disperse Red 60 is a commonly used red ink in the production of transfer printing paper. At a high temperature of about 200 ° C, the dye sublimates from the printed transfer paper and is precisely transferred to the polyester fabric, forming brightly colored and richly layered patterns. This process is particularly suitable for producing fashionable clothing, curtains, and decorative fabrics.
  1. Coloring of Blended and Interwoven Fabrics Disperse Red 60 is specifically used for coloring polyester components in blends or interwoven fabrics of polyester and other fibers.
Polyester/cotton, polyester/viscose fabrics: usually dyed using the “two bath method”, first dyeing polyester with Disperse Red 60 at high temperature, and then dyeing the cotton/viscose part with reactive or vat dyes in another bath, ultimately achieving a two-color effect or a unified bright color. Polyester/Wool Fabric: Disperse Red 60 can dye the polyester part while controlling the process conditions to protect the wool.
  1. Application of specific processes and materials Dyeing of polyester microfiber: Microfiber has a large surface area, requires high dye concentration, and has stricter requirements for color light. Disperse Red 60, with its excellent lifting power and vividness, is one of the commonly used red choices for dyeing ultra-fine polyester fabrics. Raw liquid coloring: Before melt spinning polyester chips, Disperse Red 60 is added in the form of high concentration masterbatch to produce natural red polyester yarn. This method obtains excellent color fastness of the yarn, but requires a large one-time investment and is suitable for large-scale production of fibers of specific colors.
