Description

Disperse Yellow 42 is also known as N-ethyl -N- (2-hydroxyethyl ) -4- (4 nitrophenylazo), a monoazo dispersed color with the chemical formula C16H19N5O3 CAS Registry Number 5124-25-4. Disperse Yellow 42 is a derivative of para-azo aniline. The azo group is connected to two benzene ring in its core structure. One end of the molecule is connected to a nitro group as a strong electron withdrawing group, while the other end is a N-ethyl-N-hydroxyethyl substituted amino group as an electron donating group. This “push pull” electronic effect causes an exact shift in the electron clouds distribution of its molecules. It selectively absorbs blue purple light, and presents a bright and pure green yellow color. The structure of the dye also gives it the hydrophobicity, and affinity for polyester fibers. Disperse Yellow 42 is a yellow or brownish powder. It is a dispersed dye that is almost insoluble in liquids. Dispersants are required to create a stable and uniform suspension in the dyeing solution to achieve uniformity. The industrial production of this dye follows the traditional synthetic route for azo dyes. It involves two main reactions: First, the diazotization aromatic amines with nitro groups, to produce the corresponding diazoniums salts. The reaction product must be subjected to a precise grinding and standardization process after filtration, washing and drying to ensure the dye particles are sub-micron in size and exhibit excellent dispersion and dyeing reproducibility. Disperse yellow 42 is known as a dye that has a strong colorant power, a bright shade and possesses optimum performance. It has a good lifting power. As the amount of dye is increased, the color depth on the fabric will increase. The various color fastness of the fabric, including sun resistance, sublimation resistant, and washfastness, is at a good to moderate level. It can meet most traditional textiles’ requirements. Disperse Yellow 42 is a basic color for color matching. It has a good compatibility with dispersed dyes, and it’s an important part of formulas.

The application of Disperse Yellow 42

1. The main yellow variety for polyester fiber dyeing The main use of Disperse Yellow 42 is for dyeing polyester. Colorful yellow dyeing: It can provide pure and bright green light yellow, directly used in the production of various yellow polyester fabrics, such as sportswear, outdoor equipment, fashion and home decoration fabrics. Its color light avoids the “old feeling” that red and yellow light may produce, appearing particularly bright. The cornerstone of “three primary colors” in color matching: In the application of dispersed dyes, Disperse Yellow 42 often forms a “three primary color” color matching system with a standard red and a standard blue. By combining different ratios, an extremely wide range of chromatograms can be formulated: Pairing with red: It is the basis for producing warm tones such as orange, crimson, brick red, etc. Paired with blue: Various shades of green can be derived, ranging from yellow green to dark green, depending on the ratio of yellow to blue. Pairing with red and blue: This is the core of blending coffee, olive green, military green, as well as various deep shades of gray and black. When modulating black, adding an appropriate amount of Disperse Yellow 42 can neutralize the bluish or reddish tint in black, resulting in a fuller and blacker visual effect. 2. Important yellow components in textile printing Disperse Yellow 42 is widely used in the printing process of polyester fabrics due to its excellent sublimation and color stability. Direct printing: Make it into a stable printing paste, apply it to the fabric through screen printing or digital printing, and then steam it at high temperature to solidify the color, forming a bright yellow pattern. Heat transfer printing: This process requires extremely high sublimation of dyes. Disperse Yellow 42 is one of the most commonly used and economical yellow dyes in the ink used for manufacturing transfer printing paper. Under the heat pressure of about 200 ° C, the dye sublimates from the printing paper and is accurately transferred to the polyester fabric, with clear patterns and vivid colors, widely used in fashion clothing and decorative fabrics. 3. Targeted coloring in blended and interwoven fabrics Disperse Yellow 42 is specifically used for coloring polyester components in blends or interwoven fabrics of polyester and other fibers. Polyester cotton/polyester viscose fabric: usually using the “two bath method” process. Firstly, the polyester component is dyed with Disperse Yellow 42 under high temperature and pressure, and then the cotton/viscose component is dyed with reactive dyes or other dyes in another bath, ultimately achieving a dual color effect or a unified composite color. Polyester wool fabric: Dyeing the polyester part while protecting the wool fibers, giving the blended fabric a bright yellow element. 4. Application of special fibers and processes Polyester ultrafine fiber dyeing: The ultrafine fiber has a huge surface area and requires higher dye lifting power and vividness. Disperse Yellow 42 is one of the commonly used yellow choices for dyeing ultra fine polyester due to its excellent performance. Raw liquid coloring: Before melt spinning polyester chips, Disperse Yellow 42 is added in the form of high concentration masterbatch to produce natural yellow polyester yarn. This “pre spinning dyeing” method has excellent color fastness and is suitable for large-scale production of specific colored polyester filament and staple fibers.
