Description
p-Toluidine， At room temperature and pressure, it usually appears as shiny white to light yellow flakes, needle shaped crystals or crystalline powders, which is the most common form in pure state. The crystal structure of p-Toluidine presents a relatively regular appearance when pure, but when exposed to air and light for a long time, especially under the influence of oxygen and moisture, its color gradually deepens, turning into reddish brown or even deeper. This is because it is easily oxidized to form colored quinone or polymer impurities. P-Toluidine emits a weak but characteristic amine odor, similar to aniline, which is a manifestation of volatility. It is a solid in cool temperatures, but can melt to a pale yellow or colorless oily liquid when it gets warm.
Water’s boiling point is high. It ranges from 200 to 201 degrees Celsius. Water is highly soluble, with a solubility that falls into the category of slight solubility. However, its amino groups make it slightly alkaline, and they can react with acids inorganic to produce water-soluble salts. p-Toluidine is highly soluble itself in a variety of organic solvents such as ethanol ether, benzene carbon disulfide and chloroform.
The physical state of p Toluidine is directly related to its purity. Due to oxidation, industrial products and samples that are improperly stored often have darker colors or more complex physical forms. In addition, p-Toluidine is sensitive to light and belongs to photosensitive substances. The application of p-Toluidine
Usage 1: p-Toluidine is used as an analytical reagent and also in the synthesis of dyes.
Application 2: p-Toluidine is mainly used as a dye intermediate, widely used in the production of red based GL, methylamine red lake, basic fuchsin, methyl peripheral acid, and 4-aminotoluene-3-sulfonic acid. It also involves the manufacture of triphenylmethane dyes and oxazine dyes. In addition, p-Toluidine is also used as an intermediate for products such as pyrimethamine in pharmaceuticals and glyphosate in pesticides.
Application 3 p-Toluidine is mainly used as a dye intermediate, which can be used to synthesize red based GL, methylamine red lake, basic fuchsin, methyl cyclic acid, 4-aminotoluene-3-sulfonic acid, and other dyes such as triphenylmethane and oxazine. Meanwhile, p-Toluidine is also an important raw material for pharmaceutical and pesticide intermediates, and is used as an intermediate for dyes, pharmaceuticals, and pesticides, as well as a synthetic material for analytical reagents and dyes.
